Geology of Central Oregon workshop suspended due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Email sent March 13, 2020 - 12:40 p.m.

Dear Participant:

You are receiving this email because are signed up for the winter Geology of Central Oregon workshop exploring Central Oregon Volcanoes: Living on Volcanoes. Earlier this week, UO opted to suspend all in-person classes from March 15–April 17. Since Governor Brown’s announcement regarding K-12 schools last night, our department, in cooperation with Dr. McKay, has decided to cancel the workshop for this weekend.

We have been in touch with Daniele, and would like your input regarding a reschedule date. Please indicate which of the four possibilities would work for you by accessing this Doodle poll. If more than one option works, please indicate that on the poll. In this situation, we are offering to transfer registration to the rescheduled Living on Volcanoes workshop (date to be determined), to transfer registration to a future workshop, or to process a full refund.

Future Workshops

The spring geology workshop, Central Oregon Volcanoes: Crooked River Caldera, is scheduled for May 29-30, 2020. The date for the summer workshop, Central Oregon Volcanoes: Mt Bachelor and the Three Sisters, still needs to be confirmed, but as of now, we are planning on July 17-18, 2020. Registration could be applied to either of these workshops, or the rescheduled Living on Volcanoes session. CEU verification remains available for every workshop.

The health and safety of our community members is of utmost concern. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Please contact us by calling one of the numbers below, or emailing us at to let us know what you would like to do with your registration.

Thank you! We look forward to holding this workshop in the future.
